From the 1980s,the foreign film and the TV play appear on China television, after 2000,American TV series had prompt a new fashion in China, as a heterogeneous culture , American TV series is different with Japan TV series or korea TV series. In 1995,The friends has train many devoted audience in China. But on the whole, the American TV series is unknown for most people. As internet grows quickly and more people become attracted to it, the American TV series become popular as soon as possible. More and more people watch the American TV series through the internet. All of these have pushed the history of American TV series forward. This essay try to research the cross-culture communication of the American TV series base on the case the gossip girl. The common theoretical foundation of this essay is the five W pattern of communication, which have five parts, such as audience, media, communication effects and so on. The aim of this research is to reveal the reason of American TV series prevalence. In this paper we have investigated the prevail of American TV series from four aspects as follows:first of all, explain of proposition, purpose and meaning of this research subject. Second, we analyzed the development history of the media technology. Then, to explore the function of American TV series. Last but not least, to research the communication effects through analyze the Ugly Betty.
