PC 104 industry control computer plays a great role in the domestic embedded application market. But kernel IC chips of PC 104, such as CPU and chipset, must been imported. Developing high performance system level IC is very important for improving the capacity of competition and long-term research.The work of this thesis is supported by the National Advanced Research Project (Grant No. 41308010307). The author participates in the design of PC104 SoC chip, "LongtiumS1".Following research work is included in this thesis:1) The architecture of "LongtiumS1" chip is analyzed. The effects and functions of system controller and its IP modules are ascertained, and the design scheme and organization are provided.2) The design schemes of bus controller modules are proposed, for instance, bus arbitration logic, control logic of detaching and combining data, components of memory system control, access control logic for microprocessor operation types and PC 104 bus timing controller.3) Structure and work principle of SDRAM chip (MT48LC16M16A2TG-75IT) is analyzed. Internal architecture and workflow of SDRAM controller is confirmed. Furthermore, its control and data path is designed.4) The self-designed modules in system controller, for example, DMA controller and interrupt controller are improved for their integrating into SoC. Transaction based function cover rate verification method for system controller is proposed. Still, simulation and function verification is implemented.5) FPGA platform for verifying "LongtiumSl" chip is designed, and based on it, PC104 industry control computer is achieved.Now "LongtiumSl" SoC has been taped-out. The 486DX2 compatible microprocessor, system controller and peripheral equipment controller are integrated on the chip. DOS6.22 OS and standard application program could run on "LongtiumS1 based PC 104 industry control computer successfully. Noticeably, it has been applied in the control system of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) successfully.
