The quantitative analysis of soil microstructure is a new field in which the image processing and analysis techniques are used. This paper discussed and analysis a variety of the soil microstructure processing techniques by developing the analysis system of soil microstructure image. At first, the saturated clay's character of ZhuJiang delta is introduced and some parameter about pore is established. In the process of processing image, image's vision effect is improved by some image enhance technique such as neighboring region average and pixel expanding. In accord with the feathers of the soil microphotograph , a three-level segmentation scheme is used to segment the soil microphotograph. By contrast, a algorithm called image segmentation based on edge detection is used to make the initial binary segmentation . For getting some parameters, a new algorithm based on gray scale is used to compute porosity, and technique of edge detection is used to compute pores' girth. For understanding the soil microphotograph better, technique of OpenGL is used to make three-dimensional reconstruction. Finally, some expectation is bring forward.
