This dissertation is mainly devoted to the design, experimental and theoretic study of a new-type digital image processing porosity measuring system, this system includes light unit, CCD, image acquisition card, computer, it is developed with programming tools of VC++. It can efectively attain high-precision porosity value , but it has simple structure, better applicability .This dissertation consists of following five parts:The dissertation starts with a brief description of typical tipping paper porosity measuring system, the recent progresses of the porosity measuring technology are reviewed,and a brief introduction concerning the dissertation work is given.In part two, it introduces the Theory of Fluid Dynamics, then it get the linear relation between porosity value and area of pore of tipping paper.In part three ,the design idea and mechanism of digital image processing porosity measuring system is put forward. The characteristics of various components used in the system, such as magnifier, optical source, CCD , etc, are discussed, the types of these components are selected. To eliminate noise temperature effect on measuring precision.In part four, The software used in the porosity measuring system is designed. The instrument software has the function of demonstration of basic knowledge of Digital Image Processing, i.e , it performs the functions of images saving, color change (brightness, binarization), gray-scale image enhancement (histogram equalization, median filtering), and binary mathematical morphology management . In addition, it can show the gray-scale histogram of image, the instrument performs the measurement function based on image processing, i. e., dealing with the measurement of the dimensions of image of pore and tipping paper, then it produces the ratio of the area of pore to area of tipping paper .In part five, By making experiment and analyzing the result . the reason causing measurement error is analyzed and its solution is given, and then how to correct it is provided.Finally, the achievement and conclusions of this dissertation are summarized, and some suggestions for the forward work are presented.
