Max Weber Thought The Light Of Wisdom - The Age Of Reason Analysis Tool Core Value System Build

Max Weber's thought not only puzzled his contemporaries but also the scholars in nowadays. Max Weber brought to light the root of human's perplexity by his peculiar solicitude for human's destiny. And this perplexity also became a dilemma of Max Weber's thought itself. Nevertheless, the dilemma just manifested his mighty wisdom. Faced with the dilation of tool rationality, Max Weber had a sober mind that the society can advance only through the development of the tool rationality, which gave rise to an antinomy, for the development of tool rationality was meant to lead to the neglect of the human values and the thrall to human beings. Max Weber compared this plight to an "iron cage". However, when the "form rationality" reached its acme, Web had to create its contradictory~"essence rationality" (the value rationality). As the incarnation of the ends of the essence rationality, the core value system is effective to check and to guide the tool rationality. In nowadays, when the tool rationality expands rapidly, the construction of the new core value system is critical more than ever. According to the diagnosis of this era by Max Weber, this paper appraises the social-historical effect of the tool rationality by using historical materialism and also discusses the construction of core value system in the tool rationality era.
