While the population of our country is increasing, to control the number of population and implement high quality procreation is very important. Because failure occurs in any kind of contraception methods, interruption of pregnancy becomes an effective remedy for contraception failure. It has been found recently that interruption of pregnancy is increasingly adopted domestically and aboard. According to statistics released by Hygiene Ministry in1986, about 13,000,000 artificial abortions took place each year. Among all the term pregnancy catalogue, 2~15% cases have to take induced labor to terminate pregnancy because of a variety of indications. Interruption of pregnancy involves artificial abortions in early trimester of pregnancy, induced labor in midtrimester of pregnancy, hastened parturition or induced labor in the third trimester of pregnancy. The development of modern obstetrics and gynecology diversifies the methods of interruption of pregnancy. However, there are defects and side effects in all these methods to different degree. Some methods may cause such complications as infection, rupture of uterus, severe obstetric hemorrhage, and even death of parturient. Therefore, seeking a safer, more convenient, more effective method for interruption of pregnancy and deepen this research is an important subject on the frontier of modern obstetrics.Acupuncture in artificial abortion has long been used in our country and is still been used in present obstetric clinic. Piles of clinic documents have manifest that acupuncture brings about effects of promoting uterine contraction, dilating neck of uterus, shortening stages of labor, diminishing hemorrhage and easing pain. Hegu (LI 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) are classic pair points for artificial abortion, whose usage frequency is the highest in ancient and present books recording artificial abortion points formulae. This experiment is meant to test and contrast the effect of classic pair points in different stages of pregnancy through animal experiments. The mechanism was discussed to provide experimental basis for safe and rational clinical use of needling-forbidden points.Seventy-seven healthy grown-up female Wietar rats were employed and divided into seven groups randomly: normal control group, early pregnancy trimester control group, early trimester pregnancy acupuncture group, midtrimester of pregnancy control group, midtrimester of pregnancy acupuncture group, third trimester of pregnancy control group and third trimester of pregnancy acupuncture group. Physiological pregnancy model is employed. Galvano-acupuncture on Hegu (LI 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) was the means of stimulation. The observed indexes were intensity, frequency and potency of contraction of the pregnant rat's uterus under acupuncture. The content and ratios of serum E2, E3 and P were measured and clarified. The endocrine mechanism of the acupuncture was discussed.Results:1. The uterus was in a relatively stable state in pregnancy. In different trimesters, the contraction of uterus showed characteristics as follows: low intensity and low frequency in early pregnancy trimester; high intensity and low frequency in midtrimester of pregnancy; low intensity and high frequency in third trimester of pregnancy. The corresponding change of endocrine is an important factor in maintaining stability of uterus in all the trimesters.2. In early trimester pregnancy acupuncture group and midtrimester of pregnancy acupuncture group, galvano-acupuncture on Hegu (LI 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) apparently heightened the intensity of contraction of uterus, thereby promoting the potency of contraction of uterus, otherwise, the frequency of contraction of uterus showed no apparent change. In maintaining needles on the animals, the effect of galvano-acupuncture promoting contraction of uterus was the most remarkble, which declined rapidly within 20 minutes after removal of needles. This meant the instant effect of acupuncture. In third trimester pregnancy acupuncture group, galvano-acupuncture on Hegu (LI 4)... |
