Hypertension is a kind chronic and common disease, of which the incidence seems to be the highest. Recently, not only in the developed countries, but also in the developing countries, the incidence of hypertension increased markedly years by years. Meanwhile, hypertension always combined diabetes, hyperlipidemia and hyperuricemia, which made it difficult to prevent the hypertension. In this case, the cost of those diseases were huge burdens to all families, or even the counties. Thus, how to control and treat the hypertension has the important significance to all physicians in the world.Professor Tong summarized the method of treating hypertensive patients with dampness-heat in the liver and stomach according to his clinical experiences, and discovered dampness-heat in the liver and stomach was very usual to level 1 or 2 essential hypertension. In the further studies, the treating by only antihypertensive drugs was not well, when the hypertension combined other abnormal metabolisms. At this time, the clinical effects should be dramatic, if the abnormal metabolisms could be cured. Objective:This study has explored the therapeutic effect, safety and adjustment to abnormal metabolic function index signs of Jiang Zhuo Qing Gan Fang treating essential hypertension patients with the syndrome of dampness-heat in the liver and stomach. And the study observed the treating effect of Chinese medicine syndromes of hypertensive patients by Jiang Zhuo Qing Gan Fang, in which way the treating effect of Chinese medicine was stressed.Methods:75 cases of essential hypertension patients with the syndrome of dampness-heat in the liver and stomach in Guanganmen Hospital, who coincided the inclusion criteria, were chosen from 2010 April to 2010 August. They were divided into 2 groups randomly, for Chinese medicine group and western medicine control group. The patients in Chinese medicine group took Jiang Zhuo Qing Gan Fang, and the other group took Irbesartan. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks as one course. Recording the blood pressures before and after the drugs, clinical symptoms of Chinese medicine, abnormal metabolic function indexes and safety.Results:(1)Clinical Symptom:Although scores of clinical symptoms of Chinese medicine in both groups were improved markedly (P<0.01), Chinese medicine group's scores were higher than the other group (P<0.05). Excellent rate of Chinese medicine clinical symptom was 37.84% and total effective rate was 81.08%. This result was much higher than the total effective rate of control group, which is 52.78%, and had a statistical significance (P<0.05). (2)Blood Pressure: Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of both groups after the treatments descended effectively than the blood pressures before treatments (P<0.01). However contrasts of systolic pressure and diastolic pressure between two groups were no statistically significant (P>0.05). (3) BMI:BMI of Chinese medicine group after the treatments descended effectively than before (P<0.05). (4) Blood lipid:TC and TG of Chinese medicine group after the treatments descended effectively than before (P<0.05) (5) Glucose:Glucose of Chinese medicine group after the treatments descended effectively than before (P<0.01) (6) ADRs were not seen in both groups. Conclusion:Blood pressures of the patients with the syndrome of dampness-heat in the liver and stomach was able to be descended by Jiang Zhuo Qing Gan Fang. Meanwhile, patients'clinical symptoms and abnormal metabolic function indexes were also improved. Therefore, this study enlarged the theories of hypertensive treatments of Chinese medicine, and ensured the clinical effect of hypertensive treatments by Jiang Zhuo Qing Gan Fang.
