| Research BackgroundWith the development of society, public health administration—a new interdisciplinarysubject—where medical science overlaps with management is gradually established anddeveloped in recent years. However, since the major gets off to a late start and has been built fora short period of time, there exists a big gap between it and other traditional majors at medicalschool. Besides, the implementation of new health care reform makes new and still greaterdemands on health management personnel. Consequently, it is of vital significance to perfect themajor's teaching quality management and enhance graduates'comprehensive quality so as tomeet the requirements of social development. The research adopts the most widely usedmanagement mode Total Quality Management (TQM) to probe into problems like the teachingquality management of new interdisciplinary subjects and so forth.Research ObjectivesThe research takes the major of public health administration at S university as an example, exploring the proper management mode of Total Quality Management theory which is suitablefor the development of new interdisciplinary subjects. Guided by relevant theories of TQM, thedevelopment status of the major is investigated; an improvement plan is put forward abide by theprinciples and methods of TQM; the concept of Total Quality Management is constructed in thequality management of the major so as to promote sustainable development. In the meanwhile, the research can provide reference for the improvement of teaching quality management in othernew interdisciplinary subjects.MethodsThe major of public health administration at S university is taken as research object, adopting an approach of theoretical research combined with empirical research. The specificmethods are as follows:(1)Literature research(2)Questionnaire:A total of 560 questionnaires are released, among which 545 effectivepapers are withdrawn with a usability rate of 91.6%.(3)Interviews: Focused Interviews, focus group interviews(4)Statistical analysis method:Rate of operation and constituent ratio are used todescribe the basic characteristics of research objects including the public health administrationmajors'knowledge structure, comprehensive quality and practical ability; Cronbach'αisadopted to view the internal consistency of questionnaires; Correlation coefficient (Spearman) ofeach item and its subordinate factors is calculated to analyze scale content validity and confirmatory factor analysis to value the scale construction validity; Chi-square test is exploitedto analyze the importance and necessity of the curriculum and its disparity in different surveycrowd; Variance is designed completely random to compare how students in different grades aresatisfied with the curriculum. All the data and statistical methods are examined and verified byrelated teachers in the department of biological statistics at S university.Result(1) In order to adapt to the expanded enrollment scale, the curriculum of the major of healthadministration at S university should be further improved and teachers'construction should beenhanced as well; it is desired that management structure be optimized and the efficiency ofthe major's teaching quality management be improved; the school should explore thecharacteristics of talent cultivation mode of the major and train health service managementtalents with core competitiveness according to its own advantages.(2) With the curriculum as the core, the process management of teaching quality is the keyissue in teaching management system. How to properly balance the distribution of medicalcourses and management courses and to optimize the curriculum setting play an important role inimproving the overall teaching quality and forming professional characteristics. All theassumptions are confirmed through empirical findings.Innovative points(1)Drawing lessons from mature enterprise management model, the research, with theimprovement of talent cultivation of health administration as its research core, explores thecorresponding total teaching quality management system, and perfect and make up for theshortcomings of current theories and methods of teaching quality management in the major ofhealth administration.(2)Adopting the concept of process of management, the research carries on anomni-directional study on the present professional talent training situation including surveys onvarious aspects such as social needs, curriculum setting, education and teaching, as well asfollow-up research on graduates which offers some elicitation to future research on professionaltalent training situation. Some thoughts on continuing this study(1)Improve teaching management mode of Total Quality Management(2)Adopt this theoretical model to conduct teaching management, further analyze and assesthe implementation effect. |
