Enterprises need to innovate products when facing competitive market environment. This requires companies take attention to the management of team, and play its role effectively. The research on the equipment manufacturing industry is gradually increasing. large equipment manufacturing industry has the advantage of high technological and high complexity. It is the level of industrialization and the economic technological of a country or region. It is bearing on the foundation's long-term interests and strategic industries. How to enhance the competitiveness of the enterprises themselves and provide better services for the nation-building become the major issues in China's equipment manufacturing industry. Modern international competition is to compete in science and technology, science and technology competition is ultimately reflected in the R & D capabilities. Team members exchange, learning at work, and then have a common knowledge, beliefs and attitudes, this is the shared mental model. Therefore, the composition of R & D team and the shared mental models are gradually being many scholars attention and research.This paper is based on the relevant literature and the interviews on the R & D team of Large-scale equipment manufacturing enterprises. I test the initial questionnaire reliability and validitying and prepared for the questionnaire of team composition, shared mental models, team effectiveness of large-scale equipment manufacturing.I study large equipment manufacturing R & D team as the research object and recovered 343 valid questionnaires. I obtained the following main conclusions through statistical analysis of the data:(1) Team composition and shared mental model have a significant positive correlation.(2) Overall, team composition and team effectiveness have a significant positive correlation. team homogeneity, team size and team history have a significant positive correlation with shared mental model. However, the way of team composition and team effectiveness does not have a significant positive correlation.(3) Shared mental model and team effectiveness have a significant positive correlation.(4) Partial correlation analysis showed that the shared mental model between team composition and team effectiveness play an intermediary role. Finally, according to the above conclusions, this paper put forward practical recommendations on improving team performance of the equipment manufacturing industry.
