Personality Traits, Shared Mental Model On R&D Team Effectiveness Research

Internal tasks of modern enterprises are now getting more and more complicated and synthesize sothat only by perfect team work can improve organizational effiency. Thus, new organizationalsrtructures as flat organization structure, networked organization and learning organizationpatterns have become more and more popular.This article argues that, to meet the innovation requirement, there exit several important factors ofteam members that affect the efficiency of R&D team in high-tech companies. Firstly, buildthe Character Models of R&D in order to get the influence mechanism of personal characters onteam effiency. Then, introduce Shared Mental Models and get intermediary variables to show howimportant the role personality traits play in team performance. In general, this study chooses fiveCharacter Models as character variables, Shared Mental Models as intermediary variables, andTeam Efficiency as Invariables, to discuss the influence mechanism of these three factors.According to the model requirement, this study designed the questionnaire based on maturedformer researches and gathered team effiency statics from29R&D teams, and did data mining viaSPSS to indentify the theretical hypothesis. The final statistical result and analitical result do havetheretical and practical values on improving the effiency of team works.The result shows that, the stability, extraversion, openness, agreeableness from team SharedMental Models play a significant role in making positive efforts; fShared Mental Models haveintermediary effect on personality traits and team performance to some extense.The result also discovers that, Shared Mental Models do not have any intermediary effect on team rigor relationship. So, this article educts that prganizers and manages of a team should payattention to sharing knowle dge and values, which would help team performance finally.As a conclusion, this article gives several advices on improving effiency of R&D team workas follows:1. Strengthen the team shared knowledge and values. Organization or teammanagers should attach importance to knowledge and attitude of share, because ofthe Shared knowledge and attitude to strengthen between team members Sharedmental model, and the interactions between team members, members also deepenthe understanding of each other, thus forming a more consistent values2. Improve the system of team construction, encourage teamwork to be shared.The standardized system of support or the cultivation of team culture is necessary;Again, perfect the mechanism of communication between team members, toimprove the quality of communication frequency and communication between theteam members have important meaning;3. Establish incentive mechanism, strengthen the communication between teammembers. In the process of team work, shall establish a good incentive measures toencourage the sharing of knowledge. Strengthen the communication between teammembers, help to improve team’s organizational commitment and team satisfaction,to achieve team goals.
