At present, the cities of our country are booming, the rapid expansion of which has aroused the strong demand of land resources. The intensive utilization of urban land resources has come to be one of the social focuses. Now, the way of using urban land resources is in a transition period from being extensive to being intensive, so how to improve the efficiency of using urban land and promote the intensive use of land resources become heated in the field of land use science.Based on the theories and research methods at home and abroad, with collecting lots of materials,using some mathematical ways such as multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and establishing an index system for comprehensive evaluation,the present research evaluates and researches the current situation and potentiality of the intensive utilization of urban land in Pingdingshan city of Henan, quantifies the utilization level and intensive utilization potentiality of urban land, combines the research findings to analyze the factors which affecting the intensive utilization of urban land in research area, and proposes the related measures to realize the intensive utilization of urban land.At first, the present thesis evaluates and analyzes the current situation of the intensive utilization of urban land in Pingdingshan,then points out: its utilization level is comparatively well-distributed and the regional differences is not obvious; its utilization level is mainly influenced by the level of economical input and out, and the economical factors play the most important part in the intensive utilization of land; the utilization structure of urban land is unreasonable, as the ratio of residential land to public green plot comparatively low. On the basis of that, with the further construction of the index system for evaluating the intensive utilization potentiality of the urban land, the present thesis steps into an quantitative research of that of Pingdingshan, then comes to the following conclusions: 1) according to four-scale intervals of the intensive utilization potentiality from 0.25 to 0.55, the intensive utilization potentiality value of urban land in Pingdingshan is 0.4107,between the second level and the third level and being close to the index value of the second level 0.45, and belongs to those with great potentiality;2) the positive factors affecting the intensive utilization potentiality of urban land mainly consist of the utilization structure of urban land, the input intensity of urban land and the utilization benefit of urban land. As far as the concrete factors to promote the realization of the intensive utilization of urban land, these indexes have potential, such as the ratio of land used by industry,storehouse and residence,average fixed assets investment, industrial output and added value of the secondary and tertiary industry in units area. 3) in the city, intensity index,such as per-capita construction and per-capita unoccupied commercial house, has limited the intensive utilization potentiality obviously, which is right to improve the intensive utilization level of urban land, so the possibility to exploit its potentialities further is small. According to the research and analysis,the article also give advice to improve the land use intensive, these advice include setting up science thoughts,optimization city land use structure,making reasonable land use plan,reform the old city constructions protection environment,use land potential step by step and so on. These can supply references for city land use intensive.
