EMPI (Enterprise Master Patient Index)system is a project pushed by IBM company, which is working for health care reform policy in China. This project is also a core component of intelligence medical system, whose function is to focus on the patients'master data management, and provide access for other systems to search the index of patients. The contents of this thesis are following:(1)The requirement analysis, design and development of EMPI system are implemented, which is the main work in the thesis.(2) RMI (Remote Method Invocation) technique and XML message format definitions are analyzed. EMPI system is based on RMI technique, which initiates requests and receives responses by way of XML. Thus, the in-depth investigation of RMI technique and the design of XML-message format definitions for RMI are made in the thesis.(3) Another core module of EMPI system is master data management system, and its key feature is to reduce data redundancy. However, as a central data system, internal data redundancy is inevitable, the data checking mechanism is very important, which is studied and designed in this thesis.(4)RMI remote method invocation and communication mechanism of master data management system is investigated, which is used in medical electronic solutions.EMPI system is designed and implemented in the thesis, which provides an example and reference for master data management system's application in current medical fields, and also for the increasing software engineering technologies used in medical fields. The research work in the thesis has great significance and practical value.
