With the development of the business and IT technology, the enterprise application systems have experienced the evolution process from the simple to the complex. The internal communication of the systems is efficient and the business information is relatively complete. However, the communication among the systems is always at low efficiency, which also leads to data redundancy, the lack of consistency, accuracy and completeness, making the enterprise data applications has many problems. For the rapidly increase in the amount of data each year, the enterprise must provide a consistent, reliable data access channel through information integration. MDM (Master Data Management) provides enterprise information integration solution and interactive applications with a union global view, which is also a reliable data interface of information sharing and application. But, the heterogeneous distributed enterprise data sources often lack the semantics. And there are some problems like MD (Master Data) Identify and MD integration process is long cycle, and its lack of flexibility, difficult to change once built during the implements process of MDM project , which lead to spend a lot of time and cost.In this paper, we take use of semantic technology and ROA (REST Oriented Architecture) technology to provide a ontology-based enterprise MDM method. We identify the MD by ontology through meta-data in enterprise information system, and use ontology to do MD integration. And we give a detail design and implementation about the method to package and apply the MD resource by REST (Representational State Transfer) service. Following is the contribution of this paper: (1) Provide an ontology-based enterprise MDM framework and architecture, which have a research and analysis on the MD Identify, MD integration and MD application, to satisfy the need about internal and external systems interaction and information sharing. (2) Provide the DO (domain ontology) which describe MD model through MD identify by meta-data in internal systems interaction to solve the problem that MD semantic representation is not adequate, lack of field's applications and semantic association. (3) Provide an MO(mapping ontology)-based MD integration solution by enterprise DO model. (4) Provide a ROA-based MD application architecture based on enterprise MD model. And provide an ontology-based REST service-oriented resource encapsulation and invocation method. Based on the above analysis and design, the paper use medical industry as the background, through ontology-based enterprise MDM prototype system implementation, take the general out-patient treatment for the MD identify scene, constructing the MD model described by relevant DO, and MO-based master data integration, and provide the MD resource instance based on REST service. Also paper have a detailed description of the ontology-based MDM framework's implementation details and related technologies, and to have verification and analysis about the possibility of the MDM solutions based on the scene in the medical field for a cross-functional applications.
