It's getting more and more stringent for the requirement of new type of vehicles to the train communication network, however, the domestic train communication network is still being developed. This paper adopted LonWorks technology of the international standard IEEE 1473-1999 to train communication network applications for research and development.In this paper, we introduced the development of the domestic and international train communication network, and especially introduced the characteristics of LonWorks network technology, the protocol and the theory basis of using this technology to develop Train Communication Network.Secondly, we designed an intelligent communication node which can be applicated to train communication network. In view of the unique two layer structure of the train communication network, we designed a proxy node to achieve the communication between the train level and the vehicle level. On this basis, a Train Communication Network experimental platform was designed and established based on LonWorks network technology. The network includes the train bus and the vehicle bus as the two layer bus structure, with the axle temperature node, gating node and intelligent communication node (monitoring at the room temperature and air conditioning voltage) as the monitoring nodes and with the proxy node managing the vehicle bus and the train chief managing node managing the whole train, thus constituting a five-node train monitoring network experimental platform. Then we went on with the relevant communication experiments and basically achieved the designing purpose.By designing and experimenting of the intelligent nodes and experimental platform for the Train Communication Network, we laid a theoretical and experimental basis for the further development and real vehicle application for the train communication network.
