Mobile Ad hoc Network is a kind of self-organized communication network without center. Because of its efficient self-organization character, supporting dynamic mapping topo structure, multi-hop retransmission technology and ability of robustness and anti-destroying, it is widely applied in the fields of civil wireless data communication and emergency environments such as military strategy environment and accident environment.Because of transmission characteristics of wireless channel and uncertainty of node position, the network topo structure is in a unstable status, traditional route protocols can not be fit for the characteristics of mobile ad hoc network. Existent Ad hoc network routing protocols also have their limitation respectively, and are still in research. So how to modify existing route protocols, improve the robustness, so that the network can be more stable and reliable under bad circumstances, and improve the network service is the purpose of this paper. In this paper, the architecture and laminating situation of Ad hoc were introduced firstly, various kinds of routing protocol in Ad hoc were compared and discussed. Through analyzing, Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol (AODV), the most commonly used and stable protocol, was treated as subject investigated in this paper. Then AODV was introduced in detail, including its composition, features, existent problems and deficiencies, and a scheme of improving AODV was given. This paper adopted network simulator NS2 to simulate Ad hoc routing protocols scene. The simulation tool-NS2 was summarized detailedly, including its architecture, each ingredient and network simulation ways. In the end, the paper introduced how to append new protocols in NS2 and the improved ways of actualize simulation using ns-2.28. Double-Routing AODV protocol was implemented by improving routing request and routing reply, the paper gave out data comparison of AODV before and after improving. The simulation result proved: in Ad hoc network, after using improving routing protocol, the end-to-end delay was reduced and the performance was improved observably.
