In this paper, the author intended to research on the attitudes Changshanese hold towardsthe Broadcasting and TV programs in the local dialect, and hopefully expected to shed somelight on the study of language attitudes in China as a whole. A sociolinguistic survey wascarried out to study the Broadcasting and TV programs in Changsha dialect, mainly using thequestionnaires, along with the methods of interview and observation. People from fourdifferent districts of Changsha were chosen to carry on the research respectively, and finally409 subjects were valid. The conclusion suggested:1. Theoretically, the present study added Identity research application research to LanguageAttitudes study, so as to bring light connection among Identity and Language Attitudes.2. For an overall comparison, Changshanese favored the local dialect more than Mandarin;Changshanese liked the Broadcasting and TV programs in the local dialect very much.3. The data suggested the factors of gender, age and education affected their attitudes. Inaddition, people's identities and their identification of their local culture affected theirattitudes and behavior.4. There's a long way to go for the Broadcasting and TV programs in the local dialects. Thecountry, the mass media, the society and people should endeavor together to improve thequality of the Broadcasting and TV programs in the local dialects.5. The foreground of dialects was not so bright. In status dimension, the local dialects carriedless status value than Mandarin. We should pay more attention to the local dialects andculture.
