Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) has some features, such as small size, light weight and low power consumption. The problem of operating temperature range of LCD driver board must be solved in order to apply LCD to military equipments. At the same time, the interlaced video signal must be converted to the progressive video signal which has the same resolution with LCD. Therefore we studied the technology about special TV-LCD display driver based on FPGA.(1)The de-interlacing and scaling algorithms were studied for the interlaced video signal. The edge-based line averaging algorithm was chosen to convert the interlaced video signal to progressive video signal. And then the bilinear algorithm was adopted to implement scaling. The algorithms possess the ability of real-time processing, are suitable for implementation by FPGA, and have good display effect.(2) The driver logic was designed for LCD display. The industrial FPGA, video decoder IC and MCU were adopted to develop a LCD driver board. It can receive the interlaced video signal, perform the de-interlacing algorithm and realize the full screen display at LCDs with different resolutions. This board has been passed the high and low temperature test of -40~65°C, and achieves the military standard.
