Being-wireless, networking, synthesizing, and micromation have become four development trends of sensor technologies. EWSN (Embedded Wireless Sensor Network) can be applied to many domains, such as environmental & ecological monitoring, industrial process monitoring, traffic control & vehicle scheduling, security surveillance, and military reconnaissance. EWSNs have received high-level concerns from industrial community, academia, security departments and military departments of many countries. There are two main issues about embedded sensor network based on Bluetooth to be resolved: the topology formation arithmetic of Bluetooth scatternet and the design of Bluetooth sensor node system.Aiming at the main issues of Bluetooth sensor network, based on the research of topology formation of Bluetooth scatternet, the thesis proposes an improved recursive topology formation of Bluetooth scatternet; establishes a Bluetooth sensor node (BSN) system as the experiment equipment. The thesis delves into the Bluetooth ad hoc network, analyzes and compares the main algorithms and schemes of these issues researches have currently presented. By analyzing their performances, some good ideas are created and an improved algorithm for topology formation of Bluetooth scatternet is presented. The algorithm is simple, effective and recursive with good scalability. It has no restriction that nodes are in the range of communication of one another. And it can adapt to dynamic network environment. It can communicate with each other until the piconet is created. The thesis proves theoretically that the algorithm has the following performances: 0(log N) time complexity, 0(N) message complexity and 0(log N) diameter of the constructed scatternet. The thesis presents an embedded structure of BSN, which includes the Data Collection,Bluetooth Connection Management, User Interface and Network Protocol.
