Research And Development Of Wireless Local Area Network Based On Bluetooth Technology

Bluetooth is a kind of wireless data and voice communication specification, andit is globally opened. It provides wireless connections for mobile devices and fixeddevices, while the cost is low. Bluetooth can connect portable computers with mobilephones, thus makes the relationship of computers and communication technologiesmore compact, then people may exchange information whenever and wherever.This paper introduces the background of Blutooth firstly and then introduces themain features of Bluetooth and compares Bluetooth with other wireless local areanetwork technologies. After that the paper explains the architecture of Bluetoothspecification in details, especially the host controller interface which will be usedlatterly. Then the paper presents to us its hardware: Bluetooth USB adapter andBluetooth serial adapter. And the Bluetooth chip which is used to make the adapters.Considering of the foreground of Bluetooth in local area network, this paper tells whatis Bluetooth piconet and what is Bluetooth scatternet, and use computers withBluetooth serial adapter set up a wireless local area network, and realizes datacommunication and broadcast in Bluetooth piconet and data communication betweenpiconets.Bluetooth is mainly used in portable devices, with a view to this, embeddedBluetooth development has a wide future. So the paper introduces three embeddeddevelopment methods that are widely used today, and based on NOKIA's Bluetoothstack under linux developed driver for the Bluetooth USB adapter to accumulateexperience for future development of Bluetooth.
