With the fast development of the semiconductor technology and design technology, the SoC(system on chip) which integrate the whole system on a chip appears in IC field. The solution of SoC has dramatic improved the integration of chip and shortened the period of design. The higher productivity of SoC design methodology bases on IP(Intellecrual Property) block reuse. The key issue of successful SoC design is the effective, rapid IP integration. The work of this paper is subproject of "Advanced 32-bits Embedded Processor and Study of SOC Platform Design ". Which platform has been realization with two level bus ,has integrated many IPs ,such as PCI,USB,SDRAM,DMA and LCD. The USB host controller interface act as an important peripheral interface in the SoC, which communicate with USB devices for the system.First of all,this paper gives the basic conceptions of EDA,present design flow and the design tools and so on. After we discuss and advance the hardware/software co-design and verification ,we introduce our SoC platform which named ICT-E32 and the technology of SoC design.Then this paper introduce the USB system as a whole.USB physical and logical topology,USB protocol,USB data structure,and USB data flow module arel all invoveled. The importance of host controller in the USB system is remarkable as we can see. We also give the fuctions of Host controller and the main features of OHCI: communication channels,data structure,bandwith allocation.The last is the emphasis: the design of USB host controller that is based on OHCI specification. The design is completed with hardware/software co-design and verification.After the hardware interface is given in detail, we offered detailed design description of sub-mudule and stimulation result.
