Durkheim's Thought On Moral Education And Its Contemporary Significance

In recent years, researches about Durkheim's Thought on moral education is increasing. A great many of studies have gradually shifted from simple interpretation to in-depth analysis, more and more researchers focus on the contemporary significance of his thinking. In the context of these studies, the paper focuses on the individual and the social relations interpreting Durkheim's thought on moral education. Combined with interpretation the paper will discuss it's meaning for contemporary world and China. In view of this, the paper will dwell in three parts:The first part, the essay compares a variety of options to solve modern moral crisis, highlighting the uniqueness of Durkheim's thought on moral education. In this paper, comparison of the modern moral theory (teleological, deontological, virtue theory, post-Modernism) and Durkheim's moral education point of view on the individual and social relations, highlighting the background of Durkheim ideological and moral education, social and moral understanding of the relationship between social and individual moral education and profound understanding of the way and uniqueness. This reflects in the following aspects:with special target, to address specific national moral crisis-oriented moral education system,; to nihilism and moral relativism to provide a firm educational plight of the community; that individual integrity is inseparable from the social, which helps to curb the proliferation of individuality; Moral education although not much discussed, but as the first scientist to raise the social and moral issue in the moral education, he lays the groundwork for the later significance of moral education is self-evident.The second part, from the perspective of the individual and the community, the paper is to research on Durkheim's moral education. As a sociologist, Emile Durkheim's ideological and moral education on the social as the basic position, so he focused on the study of moral education, its social function, and to sociological research methods through it. Durkheim that morality is an objective nature, moral from the social, society is different from and higher than the individual new features. Based on this knowledge, Durkheim presents its three core elements-the spirit of discipline, self-sacrifice and the spirit. Core elements made after further discussion of Durkheim's position standing in sociology discipline of spirit and cultivate a spirit of sacrifice of the way in which school discipline, teacher authority, punishment, school environment and natural resources in the school subjects and teaching the process of moral development has a unique value. As a moral scientist, Durkheim did not fully consider the moral standing of social position on education, also from the relationship between individual freedom and social norms, individual psychological characteristics of the moral value of the position of individual attention. Summary Durkheim on social and individual relations discourse, combined with the first part of that modern moral crisis, the last from the three aspects of the Durkheim Moral Education in the modern sense, meaning that the three were lost on contemporary moral values, self-serving ideological and moral education of the Enlightenment, criticism and promotion.The third part, with the contemporary status of moral education in China, explained the significance of Durkheim Moral Education blurred in our modern relationship between the individual and society. individuals bring a lot of understanding on diversified deviations, such as individuality, freedom and authority of the contemporary understanding of bias makes our moral nihilism and relativism into the whirlpool, the whirlpool caused by people sense of order, the loss of meaning in bringing people; its role as a five thousand years of ancient civilization, the Marxist ideology and beliefs of socialism countries to integrate physical, China Chengdu of Today's traditional social thought of different constraints, such as absolute abidance to the interests of state and society, to national and ideological interests of the community, which has an impact on our people. It can be said that the moral practice of contemporary China, the two trends above have wandering, how to become a moral choice practice problems. On the ethics of our existence, Durkheim moral education has three aspects of Enlightenment thinking:a clear need for discipline in moral education, moral education should be the core of the culture of social, responsibility and moral education as a fundamental need for autonomy. Durkheim Moral Education was in the early 20th century, using his idea of moral education to solve our problems may have some limitations, including too much neglected parts in moral emotion and moral feeling, attaches great importance on social authority while ignores individual autonomy, emphasizes social function of moral education but neglects individual functions.
