Yu Jia-ju was an influential, characteristic educationist in the Republic of China (1912-1949). Nationalism education theory was his main thought. To propagate the thought and set up its theory, he had written a lot of educational works. We can say, he was the representative of nationalism education theory in China. Mori Arinori was a famous political and educationist of the Meiji Reform in Japan. Nationalism is the core of Mori Arinori thesis. Nationalism education theory is also the core in his all educational thoughts. His educational theory is very important in modern educational history. Through comparing the thought of nationalism education of Yu Jia-ju with Mori Arinori's, this article analyzes the difference between these two thoughts and the contribution factors to these differences. So it may introduce instructive reference to the education actuality.The thesis includes five parts except preface.The first part is to define the concept——"nationalism"and"nationalism education". On this basis, the theory about nationalism education of Yu jiaju and Mori Arinori is discussed.The second part presents their thoughts about nationalism education in great detail.The third Part is the main thrust of this paper, a detailed analysis of the similarities and difference of nationalism education in the two countries. They were both impacted by Germany, gave attention to teacher education, emphasized military training upholding martial spirit, and advocated that the nation is the main body of the education.The differences are also apparent:such as the the focus of improving education , the meaning of nationalism education, the objective achieved by nationalism education and the results from nationalism education, all these aspects can reflect the differences.The fourth part analsizes the reasons what made them different about nationalism education between the two persons. After the study, I believe that is due to various reasons, which are both social and political environment and historical and cultural tradition difference. And they are also closely linked with growing experiences, and social status.The fifth part is for reflection and enlightenment, the article not only discusses the reasonableness but also the problems of nationalism education in the two countries in detail, and practical significance of this study is explained, too.
