Objective:The clinical study on replenishing Yin for clearing away heat and coldening blood for hemostasis(RE) to treat children's idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) of warmed-blood which is due to a lack of Yin.Design and method:44 children with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura meeting the diagnostic criteria are divided randomly into two groups, each with 22 cases. In therapy group, children are treated with RE. In comparison group, patients are treated with conventional methods and with Prednisone. The therapeutic effect of both groups are evaluated after a duration of treatment, and the clinical symptoms before and after treatment and other relative factors associated with the effect are observed. Results:Before treatment, there was no significant difference among the two groups especially on the gender, age, symptom and body charactor and so on (P>0.05). After treatment, the effectiveness of therapy group is 95% and the effectiveness of comparison group is 77.3%, the therapy group surpasses the comparison group obviously (P<0.05). Moreover, the therapy group shows the obvious advantage on the sub-symdrome, which are hectic fever, dysphoria with feverish sensation in chest palms and soles, thirsty and constipation, and the improvement of symptom/body character on therapy group is better than on comparison group. Conclusion:Conventional therapy with only western medicine and the therapy combined of Chinese medicine and western medicine with differentiation of signs are both effective in treating this disease, while the latter has a more evident efficacy. This study is beneficial for promotion of therapy with differentiation of signs to treat children's ITP.
