Objective:1.To evaluate the application effect of MiniQuest teaching model in cultivating nursing undergraduates' critical thinking ability in basic nursing teaching.2.To evaluate the application effect of MiniQuest teaching model in improving nursing students' theoretical knowledge level and nursing skill level.3.To investigate the experimental group on MiniQuest teaching effect in Basic Nursing.4.Summary MiniQuest teaching model's application experience to further improve this teaching model.Methods:This study was an experimental study.A group sampling method was used to select the undergraduates of a nursing college in Guangzhou as the research objects.Nursing class 1 and classes 2 were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group,the experimental group of 49 people,the control group of 46 people.The experimental group used MiniQuest and traditional teaching methods combined teaching model.MiniQuest teaching model had a total of 40 classes(40min/class),of which 26 classes were theoretical teaching,14 classes were experimental teaching,and the intervention time wre two semesters.The control group adopted the traditional teaching method which was taught by the same teachers.Before the experiment,the two groups were distributed the baseline data questionnaire(composed of the general data questionnaire and the Chinese version of the critical thinking scale),to collect the baseline data of the two groups' students.After the experimental teaching,the two groups were awarded the Chinese version of the critical thinking scale(CTDI-CV),comparing the two groups of critical thinking ability.The experimental group was issued homemade MiniQuest teaching effect evaluation questionnaire,evaluating the MiniQuest model'teaching effect.Two groups of the theory scores and nursing skill scores were collected after the experiment.SPSS17.0 was used for statistical analysis.The statistical methods were used including descriptive analysis,t-test,?2 test and Mann-Whitney U rank test.According to the statistical results,the paper analyzeed the effect of MiniQuest teaching mode in cultivating nursing students' critical thinking ability in basic nursing teaching and other related teaching effects of MiniQuest model.Results:1.MiniQuest teaching model helped to cultivate nursing undergraduate students' critical thinking(CT)abilityAfter the experimental teaching,95 Chinese version of the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory(CTDI-CV)was issued.The effective recovery of the experimental group was 47,the effective recovery rate of 96%.The control group recovered 45 valid questionnaires,effective recovery rate of 98%.The experimental group released MiniQuest teaching model' effect evaluation questionnaire for a descriptive analysis of MinQuest teaching.49 questionnaires were distributed and 49 valid questionnaires were retrieved,the eff'ective recovery rate was 100%.(1)Comparison of the critical thinking ability between the experimental group and the control group after intervention,there was a significant difference in the total score of the two groups of students' CT ability,the experimental group's was higher than the control group's(P<0.05).The difference between the two groups were compared in the open mindedness(P ?0.038),the analyticity(P= 0.002),critical thinking self-confidence(P ?0.000),inquisitiveness(P=0.011)aspects,the scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the systematic ability(P=0.001),the control group had higher scores than the experimental group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the two traits of truth seeking and cognitive maturity(P>0.05).(2)A comparative study on the ability of students' CT before and after intervention of MiniQuest teaching method in experimental group was made,and af'ter the intervention,the total scores of the critical thinking ability of the experimental group were higher t.han those before the intervention,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were significant differences in the traits of truth seeking and critical thinking self-confidence(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the scores of open mindedness,analytical ability,systematic ability,inquisitiveness and cognitive maturity dimensions(P>0.05).(3)A comparative study of the students' CT ability before and after traditional teaching method was conducted in contol group.After the intervention,the total score of the CT ability of the control group was slightly higher than that before the intervention,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).And in the two aspects of truth seeking(P=0.001)and systematic ability(P=0.020),after intervention the scores were significant higer than before(P<0.05).But in analyticity(P=0.028),after intervention the scores were significant lower than before(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the four traits of open mindedness,critical thinking self-confidence,inquisitiveness and cognitive maturity(P>0.05).2.MiniQuest teaching model helped to improve the nursing undergraduate students' operation skillsCompared with the control group,There was no significant difference between the two groups' theoretical scores after the intervention(P>0.05).And the experimental group' score of nursing operation skills was higher than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Evaluation the teaching effect of MiniQuest teaching modelAt the end of the experimental teaching,the experimental group was issued homemade MiniQuest teaching effect evaluation questionnaires.The results show that 89.80%of students liked this teaching method.After MiniQuest model learning,nursing students believed that their knowledge,skills,attitude which were improved in the rank of top five were:analyticity,the ability o'f focus on knowledge,cooperation ability,critical thinking ability and self-learning ability.The results of the open questions show that the MiniQuest teaching model helped to improve students' interest in learning,to cultivate students' ability of autonomous learning,analyzing problems and solving problems.However,this model took up much of students' spare time and was recommended to streamline the improvement.Conclusions:1.MiniQuest teaching model helped to develop nursing undergraduate students' critical thinking.It is suitable for promotion in nursing education to improve the critical thinking ability of nursing students.2.MiniQuest teaching model contributed to improve nursing undergraduate students' nursing skills,but it need to be extended the intervention time to verify whether this model can improve the theoretical scores of nursing students.3.MiniQuest teaching model helped students to improve self-learning ability,analysis of problems skill,problem-solving skills.It can be used to cultivate students' self-learning ability,analysis and problem-solving ability of nursing researches.
