Objective :To study the critical thinking disposition of nurses,and to identify the factors re1ated to the critical thinking disposition providing theoretic basis for nursing teachers'continuing education and teachers'training.Subjects and Methods:The study is a cross-section study.By cluster sampling,the basic information is collected from 303 clinical nursing teachers who worked over 3 years and undertook clinic nursing education to undergraduate students over 1 years. In this article, a questionnaire was used, including the basic information scale and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory Chinese Version(CTDI-CV). The data were processed by SPSS software package(version l3.0). Descriptives, test,one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression were performed.Results :1. The means of the tota1 CTDI-CV scores are 281.67士27.90,indicating nurses have positive disposition towards critical thinking. The mean scores of seven sub-scales, analyticity, maturity, inquisitiveness, open-mindedness, systematicity, truth-seeking and CT self-confidence, ranked at descending order of scores. Among the scores of seven sub- scales, analyticity, maturity, inquisitiveness, open-mindedness, are more than 40.2. The total CTDI-CV scores and seven subscale scores differ among Nursing teachers with different ages, working years, teaching years, professional title and post.3. Taking part in case discussion,nursing ward round,attending advanced study, and academic activities can improve nursing teachers'critical thinking ability.Conclusion:1. Nursing teachers do not have a solid strength in the disposition towards critical thinking. although they have positive disposition towards critical thinking.2. Nursing teachers demonstrate strength in analyticity, but deficiencies in truth-seeking and CT self-confidence. 3, With continuing nurse education,the critical thinking disposition of nursing teachers can be improved.4 To recommend that the manager pay attention to the importance of the critical thinking, and make the opportunity to improve the nursing teachers'critical thinking ability.
