Objective:1. To explore the distribution characteristics upon FSD in DM and the relationship between DM and its FSD in TCM.2. To explore the feasibility of objective and standard DM syndrome differentiation through semiquantitative FSD in DM.Methods:1. By reviewing the literatures of Xiao Ke in TCM, to dissect the relationship and discrimiantion between Xiao Ke in TCM and DM in Western medicine, the concepts of syndrome differentiation and FSD which related to Xiao Ke and semi-quantitative analysis, then to ensure the objects and range of study.2. Semi-quantitative assessment upon FSD in DM, which collected from the ancient and modern DM case records in TCM and Western medicine, then to analyse the assessment results.3. To collect and file the data of FSD in DM through clinical scales of the four methods of diagnosis, kidney deficiency and blood stasis in TCM, then calculating and analysing the clinical survey results.Results:1. The concept of factors of syndrome differentiation was put forword in the interdisciplinary research process of syndromes and there data mining in DM. 2. The typical symdromes of three poly and one less and pulse condition in DM are main FSD in ancient DM case records, and not found any law of syndrome differentiation through statistic analysis. FSD is widely distributed in morden DM case records, the main syndrome types of yin-deficiency and heat and yin-yang deficiency in DM were calculated by HCL, dryness-heat damaging the lung, kidney-yang deficiecy and blood stasis were the main syndrome types calculated by FAL and PCA.3. FSD in four subtypes of kidnecy difeciency are all with higher frequency of occurences in this clinical survey, and blood stasis is also the commonest syndrome type in DM surveyed by blood stasis scale. The correlation between FSD of kidney difeciency and blood stasis in DM is existed through data from 102 DM patients calculation.Conclusion:1. Formulation of the four methods of diagnosis scale, kidney difeciency scale and blood stasis scale, and the methods of FSD scores can reflect disease information objectively and accurately. It provides a new idea and approch to collect disease information objectively in TCM.2. The results can demonstrate the correlation of FSD and the law of syndrome differentiation in DM objectively and scientifically through statistical analysis the data comes from scales. So it is feasible that to study on syndrome differentiation in DM objectively and standardly through semi-quantitative assessment upon FSD in DM.
