Clinic Research On Treating Acne With Acupuncture Regulating Blood-stasis Constitution

Acne, commonly known as "adolescence acne", is a common chronic inflammatory disease in adolescence period, represented acne, pimples, pustules, nodules, cysts and scars in the face, chest and back. Ancient Chinese medicine did not clearly stated "acne" as a name of disease, but generally classified under dermatosis of pimple and ulcer. It contained a great number of description of the acne-related syndromes, etiology, pathogenesis in Traditional Chinese medicine books, traditional Chinese medicine theory provide a lot of ideas, experience and method to modern treatment of acne.Objective:This research aimed to observe the clinic efficacy and discuss the mechanism of treating Blood-stasis constitutional acne with acupuncture regulating imbalanced constitution. Assess the safety and efficacy of treating acne by regulating Blood-stasis constitution, provide a new way to acne treatment.Methods:Selected 72 patients from the acupuncture clinic, First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM, with Blood-stasis constitutional acne, randomly divided them into treatment group and control group 1, control group 2 with 24 patients respectively. Treatment group, "Constitution Differentiation-Disease Differentiation-Syndrome differentiation method", main points:(regulating imbalanced constitution)BL18, BL17, SP6. LI3, RN8 (moxibustion); (Disease Differentiation-Syndrome differentiation method): GB14, SI18, LI14, LI11, GV14, ST44;plus lung wind-heat, LU11, LU5, BL12; spleen and stomach damp-heat, ST36,SP6,SP9;phlegm-heat congealment, BL21, ST40, SP6. Control group 1 (Simply regulating imbalanced constitution)main points:BL18, BL17, SP6, LIV3, RN8(moxibustion). Control group 2(traditional acupuncture group) main points:LI4, LI11, ST44, GB14, ST2; plus lung wind-heat, LU11, LU5, BL12;spleen and stomach damp-heat, ST36, SP6, SP9;phlegm-heat congealment, BL21, ST40, SP6. One time every other day,10 times as a course, continue 3 courses as total treatment. After the treatment, observed improvement of damaged-facial lesions situation, classification grades of acne and changes of constitution integration. Establish a database for statistical analysis and processed by SPSS17.0.Results:During treatment, for various reasons,4 cases lost. After treatment, overall efficacy of three groups was treatment group 91.3%, control group 1 78.3%, control group 2 72.7%.After statistical analysis, the treatment group had significant difference with the control group 1 and control group 2(P<0.05), control group 1 and group 2, had no significant difference in overall efficacy (P>0.05); For improvements of imbalanced constitution, the treatment group and control group 1 had statistically significant with control group 2(P<0.05)Conclusion:In the treatment of acne, simply regulate imbalanced constitution method and traditional syndrome differentiation method both had stable efficacy on the overall efficacy and improvement of acne, but "Constitution Differentiation-Disease Differentiation-Syndrome Differentiation method" had better efficacy than simply regulate imbalanced constitution method and traditional syndrome differentiation. Acupuncture regulating blood-stasis constitution has profound value for acne and other diseases based on blood-stasis constitution, should be given high priority in clinical practice to enhance clinical efficacy.
