| Objective: To investigate the basic conditions of patients with gastrointestinal tract disease in Wuhan, General Conditions including incidence and distribution of the disease,lifestyle, concomitant disease and therapy, the quality of life (QOL) among population with gastrointestinal tract disease, the effect factors of the quality of life, and to elucidate the intervention measures to improve the QOL of the patients.Methods: The investigated spots was selected by randomized stratified cluster sampling, a sampling survey was conducted among residents from 18 years to 80 years in Wuhan by using reflux diagnostic questionnaires, Rome II and SF-36 questionnaire to collect data, the reflux diagnostic questionnaires, Rome II was used to screen the sample population, the positive was patients, the rest was control. The health quality data of population was obtained by SF-36 questionnaire and then computed the scores and analyzed.Results: The total incidence of gastro-esophageal reflux disease and functional gastrointestinal disease was 11.60%. There was significant differences between patient group and control group (p<0.01), each subscale score and total score of QOL in patient group were lower than that of the control group, suggesting that the QOL of patients with gastrointestinal disease was lower than that in the control group. Factors affecting the QOL of patients include marriage, age, educational background, profession and whether got gastrointestinal disease, the last one was most important.Conclusion: Patients with gastrointestinal disease bear pain from disease itself, but also from psychological and social communication, and their QOL are significantly lower than the general population, so it is essential to pay attention to the QOL of patients, explore its influential factors for taking corresponding intervention measures in future. |
