Objective: To study the correlation between psychosomatic symptoms,self-efficacy and quality of life of gastrointestinal cancer patients through a questionnaire survey,in order to provide reference for effectively improving the quality of life of gastrointestinal cancer patients. Methods:The study population was 87 patients with gastrointestinal cancer who were hospitalized in the oncology department of Changzhou Second People’s Hospital from January 2021 to December 2021.General clinical data of patients were collected, and patients were evaluated using the Quality of Life Measurement Scale(FACT-COG),Psychosomatic Symptom Scale(PSSS)and the Chinese version of the Cancer Self-Efficacy Scale(SUPPH).According to the mean of FACT-COG scores of all gastrointestinal cancer patients, they were divided into low quality of life group(FACT-COG score<73)and high quality of life group(FACT-COG score ≥73),and univariate analysis of general clinical data,PSSS and SUPPH scores between low quality of life group and high quality of life group of gastrointestinal cancer patients was performed, and P< 0.05 variables in the univariate analysis were included in the binary logistic regression analysis.Results:1.A total of 87 patients with gastrointestinal cancer were included in this study,of which 47(54.02%)were male patients;36(41.38%)were aged under 60 years;39(44.83%)were combined with chronic diseases;and 32(36.78%)were staged as stage I-II.2.The median total score of psychosomatic symptoms in gastrointestinal cancer patients was 12,and among the 2 dimensions of psychosomatic symptoms, the higher median score was the somatic(S)factor with 9;the median total score of self-efficacy was 87,and among the 3 dimensions of self-efficacy,the highest score was positive attitude with a median score of 48,and the lowest score was self-determination with a median score of 9;the median total score of quality of life was 75,and among the 4 dimensions of quality of life, the highest score was social/family situation with a median score of 20,and the lowest score was emotional status with a median score of 17.Among the 4 dimensions of quality of life, the highest score was social/family situation with a median score of 20,and the lowest score was emotional situation with a median score of 17.3.Compared with the low quality of life group for gastrointestinal cancer, the high quality of life group had higher education, higher annual per capita household income, and earlier cancer stage, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Compared with the low quality of life group in gastrointestinal cancer, the high quality of life group had lower levels of psychosomatic symptoms and higher self-efficacy,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).5.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that self-efficacy(OR=1.057,P=0.040),psychosomatic symptoms(OR=0.782,P=0.049)and cancer stage(OR=9.585,P=0.005)were influence factors for quality of life in patients with gastrointestinal cancer.6.Spearman’s correlation analysis showed that quality of life in gastrointestinal cancer patients was negatively correlated with total psychosomatic symptoms score(r=-0.650,P<0.001)and positively correlated with self-efficacy score(r=0.725,P<0.001).Of the 2 dimensions of psychosomatic symptoms, the somatic(S)factor was the most correlated with quality of life(r=-0.651,P<0.001);of the 3 dimensions of self-efficacy,self-determination was the most correlated with quality of life(r=0.776,P<0.001).Conclusion:Psychosomatic symptoms,self-efficacy and cancer stage are influential factors in the quality of life of patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
