The Present Condition Of Higher Medical Education In The World And The Developmental Enlightenment From Foreign Countries

Human resource is the most important resource in the country, also in the national health services. Since the reform and opening to the outside world, we have made grade advances in national health services'constructions, just like establishing health institutions at all levels, strengthening health staffing, adjusting the quantity and structure of health manpower. In spite of that, in its on the road ahead is full of obstacles, one of those is the developing level of medical education. Specially, the higher medical education is the main way of training up high-quantity health professionals.Now we are in the universal period of higher education, and the enrollment expansion has taken a serious impact on the educational quality. According to the《Health Manpower Report of China of 2006》, there were 520 thousands fresh medical graduates throughout the country in 2005, but no more than 120 thousands were hired by health agencies. And the"Investigation of Chinese Graduates'Employment"which was completed by the Department of the Communist Youth League Central School jointed Peking University Institute for Public Policy Research also recorded that during the investigation of the 11 subjects, the employment rate of medical graduates was only 31.01% which was in three of the countdown.Actually, the number of physicians per 1,000 population in our country has reached even gone beyond the world's average. What we lack are not just doctors but high-quality physicians. The contradiction between the lack of medical treatment in rural areas and the low employment rate of medical graduates has to be given great attention on by relevant government departments and medical educators. It must be influenced by many factors. And all of these are forcing the medical education system to reform.School education is the mainstay of medical educational system. It determines the standards and levels of training. Confront lots of problems and the trend of globalization, the medical educational system should be reformed to adapt the future development. This is why we do research on the medical education system.This article prepares to study from the foreign higher medical education system, learn the strengths what are suitable for China's national conditions, and make good proposals for the development of our higher medical educational reform in future.
