| Objective:To describe the current status of adult dietary nutrition in urban and suburb areas of Qingdao and investigate the relationship between dietary factors and type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:Residents above thirty-five were investigated and analyzed by multi-stage cluster random sampling in the four districts(Shinan,Shibei,Huangdao and Jiaonan) of Qingdao.Individual intakes were obtained by 24-hour recalls.Results:The residents average of energy intake was 8.12MJ per man per day, protein was 69 gram,fat was 86 gram,calcium was 716.6 milligram and iron was 29.5 milligram.They reached 84.1%,92%,130%,71.7%and 196%of the RNI respectively.The vitamin is lower than RNI.The total overweight rate was 42.61%in which the man's was higher than the woman's(x~2=7.78, P<0.01)and the obesity was 25.06%in Qingdao city.Standardization prevalence of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus is 14.7%,it was much higher in the city than in the countryside(x~2=12.234,P<0.001).and the rate of male was higher than that of female,but there was no statistically significant difference(x~2=2.200,P>0.05),age(OR=1.045), education(OR=0.866),labor(OR=0.884),BMI(OR=1.024) were significantly associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus.The intaking of normal peoples energy and fat are so more than DM(F=26.746,7.102,P<0.01),and carbohydrate are fewer than DM(F=3.518,P<0.05).Conclusion:The average intake of basic nutrients per reference man per day was adequate,but the diet structure is unreasonable and some nutrients was deficient.Trend of morbidity of nutrition-related diseases is not optimistic. The dietary factors(contain high total energy,high dietary fat and high glycemic load) were risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Qingdao city. Health life style intervention and reasonable dietary structure may provide an effective program for prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus. |
