The Analysis Of Occlusion In The Treatment Of Juvenile Bruxism With Deep Overbite Using Flat Bite Plate

Objective:To analyse the change of occlusion in the treatment of juvenile bruxism with deep overbite using flat bite plate.To find out the relation between occlusal change and bruxism in order to invent new device to cure bruxism.Methods:8 cases were choosen from the volunteers with deep overbite that would not have orthodontic plan in the near future.Their chief complaints were that the noise of clench teeth in the evening interrupt others' sleep or just clench in the daytime.All the cases were treated with flat bite plates that were touched with mandibular incisor and cuspid teeth and elevated the posterior teeth.Every patient was analysised by the T-ScanⅡsystem prior and post the treatment.Through the clinical examination and the bruxism score to evaluate the clinical effect of flat bite plate by using the T-ScanⅡsystem and also try to find out the relation between occlusal change and bruxism in order to invent new device to cure bruxism.Results:1.After three months of the occlusal adjustment,7 patients' bruxism scores were reduced,even 2were no more than 3.After three months of the occlusal adjustment,all the 8 patients' bruxism scores were reduced,even 7 were no more than 3.2.The change of occlusal index:①Compared to pre-treatment,All the patients' COF tended to the right place,and got the bilateral simultaneous occlusal contacts.②Prematrue contact:Compared to pre-treatment,the time of first contact to intercuspal position significantly reduced.③Protrusive interference:After the treatment,there was no significant change of protrusive interference.④Laterotrusive interference:After the treatment the disclusion time of right and left laterotrusive move significantly reduced.⑤Retruded interference:After the treatment the disclusion time of retrude move significantly reduced.3.The change of bite index and bruxism score has important relation.4.There was no significant change in the degree of deep overbite in the first three month,and in six month time,there was little change.Conclusions:1.After the treatment of flat bite plate,the patients' symptoms were reduced with different degree,and their occlusal index changed acordingly: COF tend to the right place,get the bilateral simultaneous occlusal contacts; prematrue contact significantly reduced;laterotrusive interference and retruded interference significantly reduced.2.The state of occlusion is an important factor for bruxism.3.The date and the picture the T-ScanⅡsystem reflect were objective, exact and precise.It's an effective way to use this system to make deep research in occlusal disease.
