[Objective] To explore the relationship among the quality of life, anxiety and depression, antiepileptic drugs in patients with epilepsy. It can help to improve the quality of life of the patients.[Methods] 110 patients with epilepsy and 59 normal controls were tested with the quality of life in epilepsy-31, WHOQOL-BREF scale in adults with epilepsy, Zung self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and Zung self—rating depression scale (SDS). All cases were in accordance with the diagnostic criteria and classification criteria designed by international antiepileptic union. All cases had no diseases of nervous system and other systems except epilepsy. There were no significant differences of course of the disease, Quality of life can be compared with different AEDs taken. Correlation between the total score of QOL-31 scale, physical function, mental function, social function and material life factor scores and anxiety and depression was analyzed.[Results] The scores of the patients with epilepsy were significant lower than that of the normal control group on the Physical, Psychological of quality of life. The scores of SAS and SDS of patients with epilepsy were significant higher than those of tile normal control group. Quality of life was negatively associated with the number of the AEDs taken . The total score of QOL-31 scale and physical function, mental function, social function and material life factor scores were significantly negatively correlated with the SAS and SDS scores. Statistical analysis: SPSS 13. 0 software used by the first authorin the data management. ANOVA test and t test were used as well.[Conclusion] The Physical, Psychological of quality of life was worse in the patients with epilepsy. Medication play an important role on the quality of life. Quality of life was negatively associated with the number of the AEDs taken .Anxiety and depression mood were obvious in the patients with epilepsy. The quality of life was significantly negatively correlated with Anxiety and depression mood. Factors determine the overall quality of life were anxiety, drugs.
