A Theoretical Construction Attempt Of The Discipline System Of National Defense Medicine

According to the discipline research theory, the foundation of any discipline must be a necessity of the history development. The characteristic of the era which China is in now is that untraditional threats, besides the traditional military warfare, become the main threats in the peace time. In the era, terrorism attacks, emerging public health incidents, natural disasters, multinational crimes, biological security, economic security, environment security and energy sources security become the tasks of China's military medicine, consisting of its traditional tasks and the new extensive ones that the era endows with. The medical disciplines that the task system of military medicine needs exceed the military medicine discipline system. The military renovation, military-civil integrative national defense strategy, construction of modern logistics and theory of scientific development lead the development orientation and transforming needs of military medicine of China. That how the military medicine to meet the development demands leaves more to have further study. Besides, both of the new theory of national security and the military renovation bring forward new requests to the construction of the national defense of China. Modern national defense must have relevant medicine discipline to serve with. As part of national defense scientific research innovation system in China, to found one new medical discipline and its discipline system, called national defense medicine and its discipline system, that can meet the modern national defense and consists of more extensive medical disciplines becomes absolutely necessary.Objectives: To construct one kind of theoretical discipline system of national defense medicine according to proper classification methods by analyzing the discipline scope of national defense medicine tentatively and put forward some suggestions on the construction of the national defense medicine in China in coping with the domestic and international actualities and the development trends abroad.Methods: Literature study; expert consultation; integration and generalization; comparison analysis; clustering analysisThe main contents of the paper consist of four parts as below: Part One: In the beginning, the discipline study of national defense medicine and its discipline system is theoretically generalized, such as the definition of discipline and its system; the definition, characteristics, founding base, researching objects, researching methods, importance and significance, relationships with military medicine of national defense medicine; and the theory study of national defense medicine discipline system. Part Two: According to the major tasks of national defense medicine, such as the health service for the army, disaster and emergency medical relief, health protection of national defense occupations, national defense health administration and medical guarantee of important national affairs, main medical disciplines serving for them that belong to national defense medicine are respectively listed.Part Three: Seven main discipline classification standards and methods of medicine (including military medicine) are briefly studied, such as National Standard of Discipline Classification and Code of China, Medical Subject Headings of Medicus Index, Military Medical Subject Headings of China and so on. Main medical disciplines about national defense in them are respectively listed, the comparison among them is also shortly made to choose proper classification methods for constructing the discipline system of national defense medicine. The theoretical discipline system of national defense medicine is briefly constructed according its research aiming background, wartime and peacetime into six parts, the forces health service in peacetime, non-forces action medical service in peacetime, the forces war-peace integration medical service, the forces and non-forces integration in war-peace time, the forces health service in wartime, and the forces and non-forces integration in war-time. All the medical disciplines in the discipline system of the national defense medicine come from both of disciplines listed from the task system and the medical discipline classification standard and methods. Based on all above, the theoretical discipline system of military medicine is reconstructed.Part Four: Suggestions on the developing strategy of national defense medicine in China are discussed in coping with the military and non-military medicine actualities and developing trends in China (including Taiwan) and abroad, such as USA, Russia, Japan, France, UK, Germany, South Korea, North Korea, Italy, Israel, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Singapore etc.
