Study On The Indicator System Of Risk Assessment For Patient Safety In Hospital

This paper is composed of three parts. Part One: Theoretical study of patient safety. The principal concepts in the study were defined, and the meaning of patient safety was explored. Then, the status quo of the contributing factors of patient safety was analyzed. And the necessity of studying patient factors and developing the indicator system of risk assessment for patient safety in hospital were discussed. Part Two: Study on the indicator system of risk assessment for patient safety in hospital. This part includes two steps. First, with the method of investigation, 328 senior nurses from two Gradeâ…¢hospitals, one Gradeâ…¡hospital and four Gradeâ… hospitals in Shanghai City were surveyed about their evaluation on the frequency of common patient safety problems and the degree of contributing factors of patients. According to the survey results, 6 clinical safety problems of inpatients and 33 contributing factors of patient were selected by analysis. Thus the draft on the indicator system of risk assessment for patient safety was developed on the basis of certain principles. Second, we used the Delphi method to revise and the final indicator system of risk assessment for patient safety was identified with 21 clinical nurse specialists from different regions, different hospital with grades. Part Three: Discussion on some problems existing in nursing safety management in China and what we find in our study.
