Community nursing is an inexorable trend of nursing development as a vitalpart of community health service. But in our country, community nursingis a new developing science, not very long from its opening, and we arelack of exberience. At the same time, its teaching contents and curriculumsystem have not yet been figured, and community nursing practice has notyet been standardized. This study is to clarify the orientation ofcommunity nursing reform in China by comparing community nursing courseamong China, Korea and United States.Object: This study is to identify the commonness and differences oncultivation goal and curriculum system in college nursing education amongChina, Korea and United States; to identify the commonness and differenceson cultivation goal, curriculum system, teaching contents, teachingmethods and curriculum evaluation of community nursing among China, Koreaand United States; to identify reform trend of community nursing coursein our country.Method: This study pertains to horizontal comparative research and usesliterature analysis and content analysis and so on. It has not onlyanalyzed curriculum framework based on the materials of cultivation goaland curriculum system, but also cultivation goal, teaching contents,teaching methods and curriculum evaluation of community nursing courseaccording to teaching plan, teaching syllabus and other related teachingmaterials from chosen schools in China, Korea and United States.Results and Conclusions:(1) China, Korea and United States in their cultivation goal all demandstudents to have knowledge and competency to provide nursing and health-care service in community setting; the result shows that they havehigh consistency in meeting the needs of the society. But in China, it issomewhat insufficient in cultivation goal to embody the conception ofnursing education, nursing main concept and coping with changes in thefuture, and in course system it is insufficient to embody presenthealth-care emphases and changes in nursing practice.(2) China, Korea and United States in their cultivation goal of communitynursing course all demand students to provide health service using nursingprogram in individual, family and community, and they display consistencyin nursing methods, target of nursing service. But in our country we arelack of understanding of physiological Characteristics, psychosocialbased community, and shows insufficiency in embody knowledge andcompetence which required in community nursing practice.(3) The basic contents composition of community nursing is almost the sameamong the three countries. But in our country, embodiment of curriculumobjectives in teaching contents and joint of courses content are differentfrom which they are in other two countries, especially the correlationbetween contents composition and ability cultivation which are requiredin curriculum objectives, meanwhile it displays that the main coursecontents are fragmental knowledge and technology delivery.(4) On curriculum reform of community nursing in our country, It isnecessary for us to make clearance of the aims of the curriculum, topenetrate specialized training goal in curriculum objectives, to embodycurriculum objectives in course contents, to strengthen teachers' buildingof contingent, textbooks construction and practical base constructing andso on.
