The Study On The Effect Of Sini Decoction On Expermental Hypothroidism In Rats

The objective is to investigate the essence of yang deficiency syndrome and the therapeutic effects and mechanism of the Sini Decoction. It is helpful to excavate ancient prescription, and to provide a new idea and experimental evidence for better applications of the Decoction in clinic.The model of the spleen-yang and the kidney-yang deficiency were induced by 0.1% PTU solution. 40 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group, the model group, the Sini Decoction group, and the Thyroid Tablets group. The rats in model group and the therapeutic groups were administered with 0.1% PTU solution orally once daily and the control group was administered with tap water. 2 weeks later, the blood were sampled from every rat's jugular vein, the thyroid function were checked and compared with control group to confirm that the model had been made.After the model were confirmed, the rats in Sini Decoction group were administered with Sini Decoction (10g/kg), the Thyroid Tablets group with 0.08% Thyroid Tablets solution (8mg/kg), once daily for 4 weeks. At the end of the experiment, all the rats were sacrificed and the blood were sampled to check red blood cell Na⁺,K⁺-ATPase, Ca⁺⁺-ATPase and Hb level, serum CK, LDH and T level. The brains, thymus, adrenal glands, hearts, livers, spleens, testicles and prostates were weighed, the contents of glycogen in livers and Vc level in adrenal glands were tested, the pituitary, thyroid glands, adrenal glands and the testicle were sliced to check their pathological change.We concluded that: Sini Decoction have a curative effect on model of unite of disease and deficiency by adjusting the disorders of the pituitary gland-thyroid gland, the pituitary gland-adrenal gland and the pituitary gland-genitival gland functions, resuming the substance energy metabolisms.
