Study On The Effect Of Embedding Thread At Pishu And Shenshu On Estradiol And Pain Of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Purpose: To observe the effect of embedding thread at pishu(BL20) andshenshu(BL23)on estradiol(E2) as well as the effect of clinical pain of postmenopausalosteoporosis. In addition, to approach the endocrine control mechanism of embedding threadat pishu and shenshu in prevention and cure the postmenopausal osteoporosis.Methods: 48 cases of postmenopausal osteoporosis which were selected from certaindiagnostic standard were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group(24 cases) andthe control group(24 cases), as a result,,only 42 cases which have full and complete data. Thetreatment group was 20 cases, those who were treated by embedding thread at pishu(BL20)and shenshu(BL23), every two weeks, lasting twelve weeks, while the control group was 22cases, no any treatment for comparison with the treatment group, lasts twelve weeks. The E2levels, clinical pain degree of both groups were detected before and after observationseparately. Use statistically software to analyze the data.Results:â‘ Before observation the level of E₂ between two groupes had no obviouslydifference (P＞0.05), while after observation the level of E₂ between two groupes hadsignificant difference (P＜0.01). The level of E₂ of the treatment group was increasedsignificantly, quite different from that before treatment (P＜0.01). While for the controlgroup, The level of E₂ was step down a little, but the change was not statistically significant(P＞0.05) when compared with the former observation.â‘¡Before observation the score of the clinical pain between two groupes had noobviously difference (P＞0.05), while after observation the score of the clinical pain between two groupes had significant difference (P＜0.01). For the treatment group, the score of theclinical pain was step down significantly after treatment(P＜0.01). While for the controlgroup, the score of the clinical pain was increased a little, but the change was not statisticallysignificant (P＞0.05) when compared with the former observation.â‘¢There were no obvious reactions for both the two groups during the treatment andobservation.Conclusion: Embedding thread at pishu and shenshu could increase the level of E₂ andcould alleviate the clinical pain of postmenopausal osteoporosis for patients. To infer that themechanism meight be through increase the level of E₂ whith by restraining bone resorptionand promoting bone formation to prevent and cure the postmenopausal osteoporosis.
