Clinical Study On Acupoint Medicated Thread Embedding Therapy For Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of acupoint kidney-tonifying and spleen-nourishing and blood-activating medicated thread embedding therapy and acupoint catgut embedding therapy on postmenopausal osteoporosis patients,by detecting bone mineral density(BMD)(L2-L4),assessing visual analog pain score(VAS)and osteoporosis symptoms scores,evaluate the effect of medicated thread embedding therapy on the disease.To provide a clinical basis for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)with acupoint medicated thread embedding therapy.MethodsSixty cases of postmenopausal osteoporosis women selected on certain diagnostic standard were randomly assigned to medicated thread embedding group(n=30)and acupoint catgut embedding group(n=30).Both groups were treated by embedding in acupoints once two weeks,6 months in all,than followed up for one month.The bone mineral density(BMD)(L2-L4),visual analog pain score(VAS)and osteoporosis symptoms scores were evaluated before and after the treatment.The datas before and after treatment and beteween the two groups were compared by t test,and bilateral P<0.05 as a standard for statistically significant differences.The acupoints choosen in the study were as follow:double Xuanzhong(GB39),double Shenshu(BL23),double Sanyinjiao(SP6),Dazhu(BL11)and Guanyuan(RN4).Among them,the Xuanzhong,Shenshu and Sanyin jiao took one side at a time,and the other side was for next time.The acupoint selection and operation of the two groups were the same.The medicated thread was made by using herb to be decocted in proportion and then immersed in PGA thread to make kidney-tonifying and spleen-nourishing and blood-activating medicated thread,which were disinfected for standby.Results①There was no significant difference in age,height,weight,menopausal age and body mass index between the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group(P>0.05).The L2-L4 BMD、VAS and osteoporosis symptoms scores of the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group comparison before treatment were no difference of statistics(P>0.05),and these index were comparable.②There were statistical differences in the L2-L4 BMD before and after treatment in the medicated thread embedding group(P<0.05),the VAS and osteoporosis symptoms scores were significant differences(P<0.001).On the acupoint catgut embedding group,the L2-L4 BMD value before and after treatment were significant differences(P<0.05),the differences of VAS and osteoporosis symptoms scores were significant(P<0.001).③Between the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group,there was no significant difference in L2-L4 BMD(P>0.05)after treatment,but from the growth value,the medicated thread embedding group was superior to the acupoint catgut embedding group.And there was no significant difference in VAS(P>0.05)between the two groups.But the difference of scores of osteoporosis symptoms were significant(P<0.001).④The differences on the increase of L2-L4 BMD between the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group were not significant(P>0.05);And the difference on the decrease of VAS between the two groups were not significant(P>0.05).But there were significant statistical differences between the two groups in the differences of osteoporosis symptoms scores before and after treatment(P<0.001),and on the reduction of osteoporosis symptoms scores,the medicated thread embedding group was higher than that of the acupoint catgut embedding group,so the medicated thread embedding group is better.⑤After treatment,the total effective of the medicated thread embedding group was no statistical difference compare with the acupoint catgut embedding group(P>0.05).The explicit effective rate of the medicated thread embedding group was slightly higher than that of the acupoint catgut embedding group,but the difference had no sens of statistics(P>0.05).The effective rate of the medicated thread embedding group was compared with the acupoint catgut embedding group,and the difference was no significance in statistics(P>0.05).Conclusion1.Both the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group could improve the BMD(L2-L4)and help alleviate the pain and symptoms of patients.2.There was no significant statistical difference between the medicated thread embedding group and the acupoint catgut embedding group in improving the BMD(L2-L4)and the VAS in postmenopausal osteoporosis patients,but the medicated thread embedding group is better than the acupoint catgut embedding group from the change of absolute value and development trend.The medicated thread embedding group had a significant advantage over the acupoint catgut embedding group on relieving the symptoms of osteoporosis.3.In this experiment,the kidney-tonifying and spleen-nourishing and blood-activating medicated thread was used to prevent and cure postmenopausal osteoporosis by using the holism concept of nourishing kidney and marrow,strengthening spleen and qi,activating blood circulation and meridian.The mechanism may be through increase of estrogen,regulate the endocrine function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis,increase bone mineral density,make bone strengthen,thereby improve the clinical symptoms of patients.It is an effective prevention and treatment method of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
