| Object: To observe the change of IL-6 in serum and CSF ,learning andmemory abilities, TUNEL' S apoptosis cells at hippocampus in vascular dementia rats and to probe the relations between the IL-6 and apoptosis, and to investigate the cerebral protection' s mechanism of " yizhiling" which is composed of Polygonum Multiflorum Thunb, Acorus gramineus Soland and Ploygala .Method: The VD rat model was established by deligating two arteria carotiscommunis in no one time, that is to say deligating two arteria carotis communis every 3 days. The rats were randomizated into model group, drug group 1,drug group2 and control group(sham operation group), 10 rats of each group.The rats of drug group 1 and 2 were fed by nasogastric feeding with two dose of yizhiling each other. Learning and memory ability was studied by Y-electric maze before operation ,15days,30days,60days after operation each other. The IL-6 of serum and CSF was measured by ELISA method. The apoptosis neurons were studied by TUNEL' S method.Results: The IL-6 in serum and CSF of the model group and drug group 1and drug group 2 is not only increased significantly comparing with the control group(P<0.01or P<0.05), but also that of CSF is higher than that of the serum(P<0.01). The model rats showed their disorders of learning and memory abilities(P<0.01), and the IL-6 in serum and CSF is over-expressed(P<0.01), and typical apoptosis neurons in the CAl of hippocampus (P<0.01)comparing with the control group. The drug group 1 rats can improve the learning and memory abilities(after 60 days of operation, P<0.01),and the expression of IL-6 can be decreased significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01 ), and apoptosis neurons can be decreased too(P<0.01) compare with the model group.
