Nutritional megaloblastic anemia 263 case studyOBJECTIVEto investigate factors that might influence or contribute to the presence of high incidence of Nutritional Megaloblastic Anemia cases during winter and spring season.METHODretrospective study on the diagnosed Megaloblastic Anemia cases reported in our Hospital from 1st March 2001 to 28th February 2004.RESULTSThe patients mean age was 47years;male to female patient's ratio was 3;2, ratio for the patients with age ≥50 years against those below fifties was 5;2. A high numbers of Megaloblastic Anemia cases were reported by the end of winter season and in the first half of spring season whereas low number was in autumn. Price hike and decrease in fresh vegetables and fruits consumer during winter and spring season are the major factors that probably influence seasonal fluctuation of Megaloblastic Anemias.CONCLUSIONNutritional Megaloblastic Anemias has relation with seasonal changes, person's age and gender. Elder persons particularly men are easily to get Nutritional Megaloblastic Anemia. Nutritional deficiency is the main factor that influencesseasonal fluctuation of Megaloblastic Anemias.
