Lacking a uniform semantic description and a machine understandable meaning. It is hard for user to find more relevant information resource and realize the information semantic fusion.With scarcity of objective expressing on the knowledge-level and redundant of humanistic factors, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) counteract the sharing and reusing of resources. Domain Ontology is efficient in medical knowledge representation.On the basis of intensive investigation of large number of documents and web pages, the paper analyses the differences between a vocabulary, a taxonomy, a thesaurus, a meta-model, and an ontology, Introduces the origin, definition, type, role, description language and creating tools of ontology and some medical ontology, especially FMA ontology. The emphasis is laid on giving a particular analysis of the last development of ontology in the world by Bibliometrics. introducing the actual advance, application fields, major institutions and its related projects of ontology-, According to FMA, attempting to analyse some concepts and relations of Meridians, and created a light ontology about three meridians. At the end, attempt to make some semantic queries about the light ontology.Organizing information resource with ontology is a potential research of information integration. Attempts of this paper to applying ontology to integrative medicine information management, will serve as reference for methods research of information resources exploitation.
