Objective:TO determine time window of rehabilitation after stroke and value the effects of early rehabilitation on motor function and ADL.Method: The study design was a single-blind, randomized, controlled trial. 80 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction were divided into three groups(early rehabilitation ,no early rehabilitaion , control groups) . Comparisons between the three groups found no significant difference in age ,sex, and stroke type. early rehabilitation group were treated with systematic rehabilitation training within two weeks ,no early rehabilitation group was treated two weeks later, control group was treated with no method. The three groups were assessed by the Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA) and modified barthel index(MBI). Results :The evaluation scores of FMA, MBI demonstrated that there wasn't significant difference between early rehabilitation group and control group before treatment(P>0.05),but after treatment, the gain of scores in the early rehabilitation group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P <0.01) and the no early rehabilitariongroup (P <0.01), however, there was no significant difference between the increased scores of the control group and the no early rehabilitation (P >0.05).The lower incidence of Shoulder -Hand Syndrome was found in early rehabilitation group than no early rehabilition group (P <0.05).Conclusion:Recovery of function after stroke don't derive from improvement of neurologic function alone ,The early rehabilitation training is effective and safe on the patient , could improve motor function and ADL(activities of daily living), prevent and reduce the incidence of complication as Shoulder -Hand Syndrome .
