Clinical Study On Juvenile Bronchial Asthma Treated With Ping Chuan Mixture

Objective: To investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of bronchial asthma and probe into the management method and prescription by using of the theory of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the combination of TCM and Western Medicine. Based on years of clinical experiences, my tutor proposed that the bronchial asthma was the result of exopathic factors acting on internal causes .The pathogenesis of its paroxysm is airway blocking of combination of phlegm and stasis, so releasing the lung-Qi and dissipating phlegm to relieve asthma, activating blood flow and removing blood stasis, assisting with cooling heat is proposed as the main treatment principle of it. Guided by these, we made up a prescription of medical herbs named PING CHUAN MIXTURE(MCHM) and observing its results from clinical studies. Methods: 200 children with asthma are randomly divided into 3 groups, treated with MCHM, TanChuanWan and Bricanyl. Observing the children' syndrome and physical sign after treatments of PCHM, comparing with the two control groups. Contracting the change of the pulmonary function and the levels of EOS, IL-2, sICAM-1, IgE in the blood of the three groups. Results: PCHM can not only alleviate syndrome and physical sign of the children effectively, but also shorten the course the course of disease and obviously improve the pulmonary function of the children. PCHM can reduce the levels of EOS, IL-2, sICAM-1, IgE in the blood, restrain the collection of EOS in thelung and relieve the inflammation caused by EOS. It also can cut down the secretion of the respiratory airway and relieve the obstruction of it. All these results are batter than that of Bricanyl group or TanChuanWan group. Conclusion: PCHM has remarkable creative effect by preventing and treating juvenile bronchial asthma in many ways and links.
