Background: Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is a protein associated with plasma lipoproteins .ApoE polyrnoiphism may influence the development of athersclerosis , cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease , and Alzheirner?s disease .However, the relationship between vascular dementia and ApoE polymorphism is still controversial. Objective: To evaluate the impact of ApoE polymorphism in vascular dementia and cerebrovascular disease. Method: The subjects including 47 vascular dementia patients, 46 ischernia eerebrovascular patients and 60 sex ,age matched health controls .The ApoE phenotypes were determined by PCR-RFLP Lipoprotein parameters (total cholesterol , triglyceride, HDL, LDL) were measured by standardized methods. Result: (1) The frequency of E3/E3 was the most commnon in the entire sample. The E3/E4 phenotype was more frequent in VD patients than in control (27.7% versus 18.33% ,P |
