Objective: Sciatica is a common clinical disorders of peripheral nerve injury,sciatica is a disease of modern medicine’s name, belongs to the category of medical arthralgia. Opinions vary the clinical theory of sciatica,acupuncture and moxibustion therapy is one of the essence of Chinese traditional medicine, with the characteristics of high potency and less side effects in clinical treatment of the disease.. Relevant literature onacupuncture treatment of the disease in recent years has published a summary of findings, only a handful of evidence-based medical literature using appropriatestudy literatureof varying quality, in order to more accurately verify theefficacy of acupuncture treatment of sciatica, application Meta analysis ofclinical data analyzed retrospectively to evaluate the scientific system of acupuncture therapy of this disease, the better for the acupuncture treatment to provide evidence-based clinical application.Results: The research retrieval2008-2013Domestic published literature about acupuncture treatment of sciatica, according to the development of inclusion and exclusion criteriawere screened for literature study met the requirements of10documents, obtained by Jadad quality assessment criteria,10belong to the low-quality documents, according to the different interventions used, comparing the efficacy of two categories, analyzed using the Cochrane Collaboration version of the software provided RevMan4.2, the resultsshown below: electro-acupuncture and other therapies OR [95%CI] value of3.92[1.77,8.68], P<0.05, statistically significant difference; simple acupuncture and other therapies OR [95%]value of5.48[3.25,9.25], P<0.05, the difference statistically significant, but the included studies were of low quality literature, Clinical control study mainly includes: lack of scientificity and rigour, embodied in the use of method of random selection, blinded, withdrawal and the lack of follow-up; The number of samples serious insufficient; Curative effect evaluation standard is not clear; This topic rese arch into and exclusion criteria respectively,reducing the reliability ofthe results.Conclusion: Acupuncture treatment of sciatica significant effect, but due to the low quality of research that includedliterature, and research methods may exist deficiencies credible findings will lead to lower values, butthe availableevidence has proven acupuncture in the treatment of sciaticathese diseases have a significant effect. But is still expected to occur with high-quality clinical research literature, according to a large sample,high standard, multi-center, randomized experimental study science and rigorous clinical evidence-based controls to provide a better basis for clinical therapy of acupuncture.
