BackgroundNowadays, much more attention are concentrated on the drug safety. "pharmacovigilance"was come out in France in 1974. Soon afterwards, many countries set up the pharmacovigilance to insure the durg sufety, such as the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Sweden, the Netherlands and so on. But they all give service to the synthetic drugs mainly. In 2008, Protocol for Pharmacovigilance Programme for traditional India medicine was issued and come to effect. This is an independent system of pharmacovigilance for traditional medicine. The Traditonal Chinese Medicine and Traditonal Indian Medicine are both ancient traditional medicine in the world. But there is not a pharmacovigilance for Traditonal Chinese Medicine in China. Traditional Indian Medicine includes Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy and so on. Ayurda is the chied component of all. She is famous for the oldest medicine system which are recorded. Traditonal Medicine in China includes Traditonal Chinese Medicine, Tibetan Medicine, Mongolian Medicine, Hmong Medicine and so on. Traditonal Chinese Medicine is the main part among them. In this regard, we find that the Ayurvda and Traditonal Chinese Medicine have the similar position in their medicine systems. For these reasons above, Ayurveda is selected to compare with TCM about the pharmacovigilacne. This research compared the pharmacovigilance of Trdaitional Indian Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Then we can give some suggestions for the constucion of the pharmacovigilance of Traditonal Chines Medicine.This research is supported by China Association of Chinese Medicine (item number: CACMRE2014-A-03).Research ContentThis study includes in two parts:theoretical research and comparision research.Theoretical researchl.Thephenomenon of the pharmacovigilance of TCM and Ayurvedic medicineThis review introduce the phenomenon of the pharmacovigilance of Tradition Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. It includes the detection of the advers effect, the monitor system of the adverse effect, the assessment, understanding and prevention of the adverse effect of TCM and Ayurvedic medicine, and progress of the pharamacovigilance research. This provide a general overview of the pharmacovigilance of the traditional medicine of China and India.2.The history of the development of Ayurveda and TCMThis review introduce the history of the development of Ayurveda and TCM. The history is divide to many different periods. In each period, the contribution to the development of the medical history is briefly introduced. From this, the period of the formation of the two medical system and their representative books can be determined. This can provide a good foundation for the later comparison of the two medical systems philosophical foundations, baisci medical theory, traditional pharmacovigilance theory.Research on the comparison of Ayurvedic medicine and TCM1.The basic medical theory of Ayurveda and TCMThere are five aspects in the two traditional medical systems which can represent the basic feature of eachi medical system. It include philosophical foundations and theoretical system, the compartmentalization of the structure and function of the human body, the diagnosis method, the cause and the interpretation of the cause of disease, the understanding of the nature and the classification of herb medicines.2.The cognitions of pharmacovigilance of Ayurveda and TCMThere are eight aspects in the traditional medicine pharmacovigilance cognitions of Ayurveda and TCM. It include the pharmacovigilance cognitions of planting, harvesting, the time and reason to harvest, storage, processing, decoction, compatibility, toxicity grading of herb medicine.3. The pharmacovigilance supervision system of Ayurvedic medicine and TCMThere are four aspects in the pharmacovigilance system of Ayurvedic medicine and TCM. It include the laws and legislation, organizations, functional responsibilities, the results of the pharmacovigilance system.4.The comparison of the pharamacovigilance of Ayurvedic medicine and TCMThis research give a comparison of the biscic theory of Ayurvedic medicine and TCM, the traditional pharmacovigilance cognitions and the pharmiacovigilance supervision system. Making an analysis on the similarity and the difference of the pharmacovigilacne of Traditional Indian Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Then we can give some suggestions for the constucion of the pharmacovigilance of Traditonal Chines Medicine.5.SuggestionsAccording to the comparison research, there are three suggestions:making the traditional Chinese medicine pharamacovigilance theory much normalization, and making them a book or a teaching material, guiding the usage of TCM from the production to clinic; Formulating the laws and legislations of the pharmacovigilacne of TCM which can provide a legal protection to the safety usage of TCM; Enhancing the construction of the organizations of the pharmacovigilance, Identifing more pharmacovigilance centers in TCM medical colleges, healthcare facilities and TCM research institutes, They two can make more convenient and effective of the implementation of TCM pharmacvigilance.
