Policy of a combination of traditional Chinese and Westernmedicine which is made after the establishment of China is ourlong-term health care policy. Adhering to the policy, our medicalhealth service has made prominent progress and integrated talentswith knowledge of Chinese and Western medicine come forth inlarge numbers. Some normal diseases and difficult miscellaneousdiseases can be cured and medical and health condition is greatlyimproved, especial in villages. The writer reads and sorts outrelated document literature in archive and library, utilizing themethod of combining historical research and social research forstudying the situation of the combination of traditional Chinese andWestern medicine in Shanxi from1949to1982in the flowing threeaspects.The first part introduces the background of promotingcombination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in Shanxi,analyzing the establishment of this policy and some ideas’ influenceon combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine afterfoundation of New China, such as the modern idea that confluenceof traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine and the idea that combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Westernmedicine in revolutionary base area. What’s more, it also representsa situation of disease and medical resource in Shanxi beforeliberation briefly.The second part introduces the process that Shanxi promotes acombination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.There are three stages. The first stage is “scientization oftraditional Chinese medicine”. At this stage, a thought of abolishingtraditional Chinese medicine appeares again. The Ministry ofHealth comes up with further education traditional Chinesemedicine, proceeding from the national conditions. Furthereducation of traditional Chinese medicine provided for doctors inthis stage develops the level of traditional Chinese medicineobjectively, but the Ministry of Health limits it, which deviates fromthe road of scientization of traditional Chinese medicine, andimpedes the pushing on a policy of combination of traditionalChinese and Western medicine. Chairman Mao finds the mistakeand corrects it in time. The second stage is that holding activitiesthat Western medicine learns merit from traditional Chinesemedicine universally. The third stage is that training barefootdoctors for solving medical and health problems in villages.The third part analyzes the prominent achievements in talentstraining and curing disease Shanxi made through the policy ofcombination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and thereason why this happened deeply. It also analyzes the problems inthe process of promoting it and the reason. The performancesrefer to cultivate the comprehensive medical talents and treat some diseases. The reansons of performances depend on the politicalsport and the plans of medical and health department and so on.There is a discrimination in taditional Chinese medicine accountingfrom the defects of acquaints and managements. From what havebeen discussed above, the paper assures prominent achievementsthis policy made in medical and health filed and the experience itbrings to medical business.
