Because the surface of dry salt-lake is covered with cementation and close-grained crust in Luobubo of Xinjiang autonomous province, the traditional engineering material for road is very lake there, for example sand,gravel and fresh-water.In order to make full use of local saline soil to construct roads, reduce engineering cost, ensure construction quantity, improve stability and durability of subgrade, the research about physical and mechanical properties of saline soil and its application technologies in subgrade engineering, especially its engineering properties, must be taken, which also has theoretical significance in the research about the construction technology of subgrade in Luobubo dry salt-lake area and engineering actual value. This article is based on the highway project from Hami to Ruoqiang, the emphases is the properties of saline soil in the area of dry salt-lake and the subgrade design and construction technology. The analysis of chemical and mineral element of the classical soil sample and the properties of saline soil in the area of dry salt-lake has offered rationale to choose local saline soil for road engineering material. According to the heavy compaction test and unconfined compression test, the engineering properties of saline soil in the area of dry salt-lake have been investigated, which can provide scientific proof about the control of sprinkling amount of saturation haloid water and the compressive degree of filled material for subgrade. The relationship between saturation degree and salt-expand amount of saline soil is opened out by the research of salt-expand properties in deferent temperature and humidity, which has offered theory reference to keep the stabilization and durability of subgrade. Combined with the microstructure test of saline soil, the melt and collapse characteristic of ultracholrine saline soil is analyzed from the microcosmic and macroscopical aspect, which has offered solid theory bases to prevent the subgrade from collapsing in the construction and maintenance phase. Through the analysis on all sorts of saline soil properties along the road in dry salt-lake area, especially the engineering properties, several advices and opinions about saline soil subgrade design and construction have been given out, which can ensure the construction quality and prevent the series of distress that caused by subgrade engineering material of saline soil.
