Finger seal is one of most successfully invented and developed seal equipments in recent years. Many experts and institutions have done a lot of work for improving the finger seal 's life and seal performance. The finger seal's life and hysteresis are two controversial objectives. But till now, the researches about finger seal mainly aim at only one of finger seal's life or seal performance and the optimization variables are only centralized on the finger seal's shape-curve or height. As a result, there's still great space to improve the finger seal's performance. So the purpose of this project is to optimize the finger seal's life and seal performance at the same time while using the shape-curve , height and the circular angle as the optimization variables.Firstly, this paper constitutes the finger seal's finite element model using parameterized modeling function of the finite element software Marc. So the optimization program can get the contact pressure and the hysteresis rate quickly and precisely. Based on the finger seal's finite element model, the multiobjective ant colony algorithm is applied to optimize the finger seal and get ideal pareto set. From the pareto set, we get some worthy conclusions for improving the finger seal's performance. For example, the finger seal whose shape-curve is concave is always better than the finger seal whose shape-curve is protruding when other geometry parameters are the same. Finally, this paper applies the hybridization algorithm of lexicographic approaches with ant colony algorithm to optimize the finger seal and some optimized results have been got. Compared with the multiobjective ant colony algorithm, the hybridization algorithm of lexicographic approaches with ant colony algorithm can optimize other optimization objectives while controlling one optimization objective in the range we need. So we can use this hybridization algorithm to get different optimized results according to different fields the finger seals are used.
